Brought the adventure to life

I didnโt expect to feel so pulled into these ancient stories, but this translation made the adventures and struggles feel real and vivid. The language is modern enough to understand easily but keeps the weight and drama of Homerโs world. Finally made Homer click for me
Format: Paperback
Iโve tried reading The Iliad and The Odyssey before but always got lost in the language. This translation is clear and smooth while keeping the epic feel of the stories. It helped me actually enjoy the characters and battles without feeling like I was stuck in a high school assignment. Itโs made these classics feel alive and human, and Iโm glad I gave it another try with this version.

Epic tales that still resonate

I dove into Dawsonโs twin translation of The Iliad and The Odyssey hoping for clarityโand instead found myself struck by their emotional pull. Achillesโ fury, Hectorโs honor, Odysseusโ longing for homeโit all felt immediate and real. Dawsonโs language flows so naturally, I forgot I was reading an ancient text. There were moments I stopped and sighed, moved by how these characters still speak to our hearts today.

A good weekend read

Timeless adventure, beautifully retold
